Fuel pump 2002 oldsmobile alero

In order to replace the fuel pump u must remove the gas tank, the fuel pump is located inside the tank. U are going to need to get the car at least 3 feet in the air, u will need a good 2 1/2 ton hydraulic floor jack, 4 good safety stands and common hand tools, also a brass drift to release fuel pump module retainner ring on top of tank, don't use steel one spark and u are up in smoke.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank itself attached to the sending unit...2 ways to do this. the right way: lower real end remove part of the exhaust if nec. lossen the straps aorund the tank after you remove the filler tube and t he shround surrounding the tank...Shade tree way... Locate gastank from inside trun ( using a very educated guess, take a pair of metal shears and cut a square out above the sendfing unit , drill a small hole not going to far down to start the cutting process be carefulll ( yes i had to do this to my camaro cuz i went through 4 feul pumps got tired of lowering the rear end and screwing w/it i'll never sell the car anyway) leave one side of the square you cut attachec so you can bend it back over kinda like a flap or future mishaps, i dont recomend doing this but it can be done.......good luck hope this solves yer question...

Unfortunatly on these cars the fuel pump is located in the tank. to change it you will have to drain and remove the tank from the car. the large nut on the top of the tank is where the fuel pump sits take that nut off and pull it out also i would recommend you buy the complete pump and sending unit assembly as you do not want to drop the tank again later.
