Hi, Aron before testing any electrical component in the Turn Signal Light Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, "AGM" batteries fall into this category more so than lead-acid types, also before diagnosing any turn signal/running light/parking light issue make sure the bulb is good and the light fuse has continuity with a test light. If you have replaced your OEM lights with one or all LED lights you are going to need a load equalizer.
If no turn signals are working the cause could be a faulty turn signal module/flasher or the connector going to it, look for corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets. Contact spray cleaner is great for removing corrosion.
If your turn signal comes on but takes several seconds before it starts flashing you may have dirty contacts in the turn signal switch/button, the switch needs to be opened up and cleaned also the flasher may be starting to fail. It should be noted that cold weather will only exacerbate the situation especially when temperatures drop down below freezing and the location of the component, turn signal switches on the handlebar are at the mercy of the oncoming freezing 70 mph wind and makes it hard for the contacts to do their job covered in frozen grease/grime
If all four turn signals flash at the same time like hazard lights even though you only pressed one turn signal button then you have a LED light in the circuit and need a load equalizer that can be purchased from any motorcycle parts supplier.
If your speedometer does not function properly it will have to be fixed first because your turn signal module gets the data from the speedometer for normal turn signal function.
If your front turn signals don't work use a test light to check for power and ground at the bulb socket, then start backtracking the wiring through every wire connector to the turn signal switch/button and check for continuity, go all the way back to the fuse if necessary to find the cause of the malfunction.
If your rear turn signals don't work check your rear fender wiring harness connector first, look for, corroded, broken, loose pins/sockets, power, and a good ground, the harness connector is usually located under the seat on the front of the rear fender then keep tracing the wiring look for obvious harness damage caused by the rear tire.
If you still can't find the malfunction backtrack from the rear fender wiring harness connector.
If one side does not work you could have a faulty turn signal switch or module check for continuity.

SOURCE: no brake lights blows fuse every time

there is most likely a short in the wires have you put a tow package on it if so did you splice in to the lines check all wires and see if they are burnt any were most likely short

SOURCE: The 7.5A fuse to the turn signal\backup light keeps blowing.

The only way to resolve this problem is to use a meter to find out if the problem is an over-current fault or a short-circuit fault. WHatever the case may be, the wiring and lamp assembly will have to be inspected for damage

SOURCE: my 2007 yamaha v star 650 keeps blowing the fuse

There seem to a 'live' wire (in the turn signal, brake light or horn circuit) touching the frame of the bike and thus the fuse blowing.
You will have to trace out the short-circuit.
You can start wth removing the connections to the turn signals thn fit the fuse and see if it still blows ....like wise remove the wire to the brake light and thn check if the fuse blows, same to the horn.
In short ..you can remove all the wires connections to these and thn fit the fuse and refit the wiring connections one by one ,where the fuse will blow after connecting the wire to say brake light thn the problem is at the brake light wiring ....likewise to the others ...onces you identify the circuit tht has the problem thn it will be easy to trace it and rectify it.

It sounds like the fuse is doing what it is supposed to do, and burning out when there is a short circuit. Check the wiring from the fuse block back to the lights and pay special attention to the trailer connection.

Not necessarily a bare wire. Could just be a slight broken spot in the insulation. Check the wiring inside the rear fender. Sometimes the tire gets into the wiring harness and chews things up a bit. This usually happens on lowered bikes.

Turn signal fuse keeps blowing


Hi, Mike_meyers69 before diagnosing your blown fuse issue you are going to need a wiring from your service manual a test light, an ohmmeter and plenty of extra fuses. If you turn on your ignition switch and immediately blow a fuse you have a hard/dead short and is usually easy to find. With a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder start stabbing the wire/s that leads away from the fuse holder and towards the ignition switch, you test light will illuminate validating the short. When the test light fails to illuminate you have passed the short and need to back up until the test light illuminates, then look in the immediate area for the short.
If you driving down the road for 30 minutes or 15 miles and blow a fuse you have soft/flying short and may take some time and patience to find.
If the main fuse/circuit breaker constantly blows/trips while riding you probably have a faulty battery terminal connection. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. Any other fuses that constantly keep blowing while riding are usually caused by a loose or corroded ground wire in the circuit, which means you have to check, inspect, test each and everyone with and ohm meter set on a low ohm scale 100 ohms or less . Simply touch one lead to the ground source and the other lead to the battery negative terminal, a reading of zero indicates a clean solid ground. Any number reading or infinity indicates a poor ground and needs to be repaired. Poor or weak grounds require excessive additional amperage to complete the circuit which in turn blows the small amperage fuse. I have a 1992 yamaha virago 1100. my headlights and turn signals work fine but no parking lights


start with checking your fuses, if all three running lights are not working (front two and rear running/brake) then it should be power related. if your fuse is ok check you bulbs, it's ez and quick.
if you haven't found your power it's time to get out the test light. Start at the fuse block and work way to the lights when loss power you found your problem. If your fuse is blown we now that something made it blow, replace the bulb (if one is blown) and turn on the bike with a new fuse, if blows test for ground on the power wire this the bike off. a multimeter on the ohm setting is the easiest way to do this. now this can take a bit it there is a short in the wire take your time and you'll do fine.

Signal fuse keeps blowing


Just a hunch....if its blowing immediately, your horns are on the signal fuse....Yamaha typically wired these so the horns is hot and the horn button grounds to sound the horn. Unhook connectors and check if there is a short from either terminal to ground....one probe on a terminal, other on bike ground...retest on the other terminal. You should be open (infinity) to ground.
If fuse is fine till turn signals are used....inspect each socket for wiring damage.

Symptoms:
Lights flickering at times and/or battery gets hot to the touch

Problem:
Reglator/Rectifier

When the regulator dies, it allows as much as 19 volts to appear across the battery. This is not good. It will cook the battery and the battery could even explode. Fuse can not stand up to this!

Blowing turn signal fuse


Every time you turn bike on front lamps are cuasing fuse failure. you have a running light pwr pinched. diconnect battery ground and secure lead so it cant get back to post. Use an ohm meter check lights pwr leads to ground looking for meter to see if continuity to chassis ground exsists. ohm's found in milla or killa values should not be mistaken for short to ground more like the resistance through light fillament. best checked with all bulbs to circuit removed. Continuity through test leads should be subtracted from test value good connection .1ohm no connection = OFL or open.
