Hello
Blinking of standby light in Sony sets are fault indications. You just count the number of blinks occur at a time, by switching the set ON-OFF by its front panel power switch, not by the remote control handset. Just do it for at least three or four times, count the exact number of blinks occurs there, and inform it to me through Fixya. Through the number of blinks, I can locate the faulty section, of somtimes to the exact fault location. Count it keenly and inform me. OK.

What could be a cause of my sony trinitron 21''crt tv it's problem is fuse burned and STR is shorted when i change it it burned and shorted again ?
If STR is found damaged, you should check all the assciated components with it; like resistors, zener diodes etc: before replacing a new STR. All such components should be checked individually [
out from the circuit]. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Blurry & Fuzzy Picture Sony Trinitron
Check the filter capacitor to the supply to video output card. You can locate this capacitor at the CRT base card to your Sony Trinitron. Replace this electrolytic capacitor.

How can I reset a Sony Wega tv without a remote
You can only reset the TV when you have the remote as it requires holding down the RESET button on the remote control, then pressing the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn itself off, then back on again. Then release the RESET button.
Regarding your problem with the TV not staying on for 3 seconds, you can try unplugging the unit for at least an hour to perform a hard reset of the microprocessor. If the unit still doesn't stay on, you need to check the power supply or the entire board for any blown or bad capacitor, shorted terminals due to accumulation of dirt, or broken solders. It may be a tedious task and requires an electronic prowess to do.
Kudos and thanks for using Fixya.

Try a reset:
- Turn on the television.
- On the TV remote control, press and hold either the RESET or UP ARROW button.
- While holding the RESET or UP ARROW button, press and release the POWER button on the front of the TV.
NOTE: The TV will turn off and then back on.
- Release the RESET or UP ARROW button.
If that doesnt solve it, you will need a repair.

Sony Trinitron---Blinks 9 times, won't come on!
A specific model number will probably get you more specific
help.. but if you check around the internet by model number
you will likely be presented with some SERIOUS PART opportunities...
The FASHING LIGHT means you have a hard fault in the power circuits...
The number of flashes is mean to point you to a specific area...
I gave all my big flat screens away in favor of the new
HD stuff... (certainly less reliable than those Sony sers...
Shopjimmy might be a great place to call... but the
MODEL NUMBER is a
MUST.

Sony Trinitron Wega Standby blinks & the TV won't turn on
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
