you might try calling samsung cusnsumer assistance and see if this one is under a recall for service

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV. It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !

Replace the lamp

Is the Lamp ok? Go to the rear of the set and turn on the set with your remote while looking at the vent slats. If you can see a bright light through the vent slats then your Lamp is working. If the lamp is on and you have sound and no pix, then the Digital bd is in what we call "Video Mute" and will have to be replaced. Also make sure that the Lamp Door is installed and the screws are tight.

I would ask Samsung but I SUSPECT it is part of the display panel and a sealed unit---you might get it fixed if it is a MFR defect for free.

If a DLP suspect first the lamp, then the color wheel, which are the two most common failure parts in this set.Color wheel faces lamp--look to see lamp not shattered inside and color wheel not missing parts of the plastic wheel at the same time as lamp is removed--it faces the lamp.

You will need the DLP chip replaced to get rid of the white dots. You can call samsung at 1-800-samsung or you can buy the part from Suburban-electronics.com for $170.00. You really will need a technician to replace the part, very invoved proccess. Part # is 4719-001981.

sounds like the bulb warning indicator is telling the tv that the bulb needs to be replaced.
you may need to replace the bulb but for now go into the service menu and reset the bulb .

Sorry the problems u have is not for hobbiest or amature to do.High voltage Deflection board areas.This problems,must have experience tv tech to troubleshoot and replaced parts or boards require for the tv.Could be extensive repairs or just requiring test and replaced some of many small capacitors,resistors,transistors and ICS.Have to do major troubleshooting though.Must get priced quotes by many big screen tv shops,than u decide,which to give the job to.

I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. This sounds to me like the power supply / power board is the problem. Are you able to test them to see if the correct voltage is coming out?


I would bet it is not.. it definitely sounds like a power issue to me.

You need the DMD chip replaced. Samsung is covering the cost of this repair so call 1-800-samsung and they will set you up for repair with the closest authorized service center.
